Color Sample Match Procedure

New Procedure for Color Sample Matches

Note: The color sample match procedure has been modified since the original update was announced on 5/13/2022. Click here for the updated procedure. 


Matthews Paint implemented a new procedure for matching color samples. Effective June 1, 2022, customers can receive a color sample match by following the procedure below.

1. Contact Customer Service

Notify customer service that you will be shipping a color sample to be matched (call 800-323-6593 or email mpceorders@ppg.com). Provide the information below in your correspondence. Once received, customer service will alert the lab that your sample will be forthcoming.

  1. Company name and location
  2. Contact name, phone, and email
  3. Shipping and tracking information, if available
  4. Requested product line and finish
  5. Address to return color sample, if you'd like it returned
  6. Color name

2. Ship Sample & Form

Customer service will send you a form to include with your shipment. Ship the color sample and completed form to:

The status of your request will change from "pending" to "in process" when the sample and form are received.

3. Receive Color Match

After the sample is received, we will process the color match. When the color match is complete, we will email you the formula and, if requested, return the sample to the address provided.
